Welcome to Backwash!

We have been surfing at Truc Vert for over 20 years now – and we love every day of it. And what we love even more is sharing our passion for the waves with you. Whether small or large, young or less young, complete beginner or already passionate, we will accompany you on the surfboard.

Our surf school is located in one of the most beautiful places for water sports enthusiasts – on the stunning Cap Ferret Peninsula, which stretches between the majestic Atlantic Ocean and the picturesque Bassin d'Arcachon. Just an hour away from the Bordeaux metropolitan area, you’ll find untouched nature, peace, fresh air, and plenty of space on the beach and in the water.

Directly behind the dune, connected to the Sandaya Truc Vert campsite in the middle of the pine forest, is our surf school with rental services.

Truc Vert & Cap Ferret - Magical Spots

The regulars like to call Truc Vert the "enchanted forest." Camping in the protection of the fragrant pines, where tents and caravans haven't yet been replaced by mobile homes – and it will stay that way!

Wake up to the gentle morning sun, the sound of the sea, and the cicadas starting their song. Enjoy warm croissants for breakfast, grab your beach gear and surfboards, and spend the day by the sea. In the evening, taste oysters at the Bassin, enjoy a delicious dinner at a restaurant, or simply have an aperitif on the beach at sunset. Enjoy the sea, pines, and tranquility, and head back into the water the next morning, fully refreshed...

The well-equipped 4-star Sandaya Truc Vert campsite, with its crêperie, bar, restaurant, and a supermarket with a bakery, is a great place to stay, even completely self-sufficient if you wish. Truc Vert is located just behind the dune, and you can reach the long sandy beach in just a few minutes on foot. Even during the high season, you’ll find plenty of space to enjoy the sound of the sea in peace. Whether on foot or by bike, due to its unique location, the campsite is the perfect starting point for exploring the peninsula and its surroundings. You can learn more about camping here.

In addition to our favorite activity – surfing – Cap Ferret offers a variety of other activities and attractions that make your vacation unforgettable. First and foremost, Cap Ferret is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts – alongside surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, kite surfing, and sailing are very popular. But even on land, our magical peninsula has a lot to offer. The commune of Lège Cap Ferret consists of 10 charming villages, each with its own character.

Nearby is the quiet village of Piraillan, which invites you to linger with a beautiful market during the high season. Right next door is the picturesque village of Le Canon, which impresses with its traditional fisherman’s huts and relaxed atmosphere. No visit to Cap Ferret is complete without strolling down the flower-covered alley to the pier and admiring the Dune du Pilat. The neighboring village of L'Herbe is considered the most beautiful spot. With many oyster tasting spots decorated with great attention to detail, you can experience the local culture up close and enjoy the region's delicious seafood cuisine. The center of the area is the glamorous village of Le Ferret, with its picturesque shops, cozy cafés, and top-notch restaurants, perfect for strolling and enjoying. A visit to the market is highly recommended. In addition to fruit and vegetables, you can also find a vacation souvenir here. After shopping, take in the lively atmosphere with tapas and wine at the Bistro Peyo. Simply beautiful.

For those who find the markets too hectic, the peninsula offers an impressive landscape of dunes, pine forests, and endless beaches that invite long walks and bike rides. The Cap Ferret lighthouse offers a spectacular view of the entire peninsula and the world-famous Arcachon Basin. In addition, visitors can take boat trips to explore the nearby bird reserves, visit oyster farms, or admire the famous Dune du Pilat, the highest dune in Europe.

We could go on and on praising it; it’s just beautiful here. Feel free to stop by for some tips for your time at Cap. If you'd like more information in advance, here is the link to the tourist info.
